Darthrambo: Firefly Alpha Trooper

Here's an awesome one from the realm of the Darthness.  It's a cosmetically modified Alpha Trooper with a bit of a neat twist to it:  inbuilt Firefly Tech.  Instead of having the clip charge your darts, there's an LED inside the Alpha Trooper that'll charge glow-streamlines in any standard clip.  Darthrambo's Alpha Trooper is a great looking blaster with a smart take on the Firefly Tech system.

"Just the standard stuff for functionality but I did some stuff cosmetically.  LEDs, Tac light tac rail attachment with UV LEDs, White LEDs, and laser.,  Faux leather grip and some paint. On a side note if i replace the led for the jam door with a UV, it will make this a firefly AT that can use any clip."

Neo Creations: Longshot CS-6

...Wow.

Well. Here's one spectacular Longshot. Painted by Neo Creations, this puppy took over six hours of his life, and it shows. That metallic blue is a great choice, and the combination of that with the copper and steel looks fantastic. If you're curious about the inside, it has received the basic AR and dart peg removal treatment, fixing its horrible swollen AR problem (ARitis, if you prefer).

Bazookafied: Long Spectre Project

So I was patiently waiting for Wal-Mart to get off their cushy tooshies and release the rumored Whiteout Series Spectre, but I've grown impatient (not to mention come to the realization that it likely won't happen now) and wanted to get my snow-inspired Long Spectre up and running.  So... I DID!  Gotta say I'm happy with how things have turned out.  Though I didn't actually replicate the Whiteout logos, the effect of a white rifle-style Spectre is pure eye candy to me.

The "Long Spectre", as I've come to call it, also is a deceptively powerful blaster.  While most would see the barrel extension and assume that it gets poor ranges, the Spectre has more than enough power behind it's modified double-spring internals to sling foam well beyond the barrel so as to not have it impede range like they usually do.  The second spring sits inside the diameter of the stock spring and gets excellent ranges, comparable to a Nite Finder with an upgraded OMW spring.  I was surprised to see this powerful change and it easily established itself as a great looking blaster with looks to boot!

Peter Torres: Black Widow Longshot!

I'm not sure how all 3 of us missed this one!  Been in the inbox for over a month but STILL worth sharing! This one's a customized Nerf Longshot, and I must say I'm a fan of it.

If he's got any more of that red paint left, I'd put a "Black Widow" sign on it (the two red triangles that look like an hourglass) to really help sell the name on this guy, but it still looks great!  Here's what he had to say about it:

I just started modding Nerf guns and this is my first paint job I have done to a gun.  First I took it apart and modded the internals.  AR removal, new springs, padding the plunger...all that good stuff.  I wish I would have taken off the clip lock and the jam door lock but I can always pull it apart again if someone wanted.  I then sanded it down.  I spray painted it all black.  I decided to put a PVC barrel extension on the front of the gun so I glued that on to the attachment piece for some extra length.  I put PVC in the stock of the gun to help prevent it from collapsing.  After putting it all back together I liked how it looked but was not fully in love.  I was looking through my paint in my garage and found some red paint.  I love black and red together and think they look super sexy together...I decided to accent the gun with some red.  After it was dry I put my red dot on top (its a crossman red dot for an air-soft gun or something like that which is hot glued onto a mount for a Nerf gun) of the rail and chased my little brother around the house shooting him.  Good times :)

I really enjoyed modding this blaster and plan on doing more in the future!

Tactical_Tagger777: Urban Camo Mav

I think it's safe to say that 2012 is the "Year of the Maverick submissions" for Universal Nerf!  And rightfully so, as it just won the 2011 Boys' Toy of the Year in the UK, despite it being one of the oldest N-Strike Blasters.

I also gotta say I like this guy's name.  Something about it seems... familiar!

Bazookafied: Spectre Matching

 Earlier, I shared my Blue Spectre repaint to match my blue Raider Stock and Longstrike Barrel.  I had also repainted a Longstrike Barrel Yellow to match a stock Spectre with a yellow Raider Stock.  Well, now you get to choose: which one turned out better?  Blue or Yellow?

Bazookafied: Apocalypse Blaster

While not technically a Dart Blaster, it is still technically "Nerf", thanks to the Super Soaker line now being branded as such.  This blaster actually didn't take too long to complete and is non-functional.  It serves as a prop for my "Life after Humans" pictures.  Built primarily from a Super Soaker Rattler (2010), this blaster has 6 different colors of Krylon on it.  I also removed the front pump handle and installed a Maglite instead, as well as replacing the barrel with one from a Longshot Front Gun.  It's a fun little blaster and it's part of my photos that inspired me to start up the "Life after Humans" contest.

Bazookafied: Whiteout Sharp Shot

This one has taken me longer to complete, and I regret that for two reasons.  1: it's been stuck in mid-progress for awhile thanks to colder weather and me running out of white paint the second I started to apply the first coat.  2:  this was to be completed for Eagle1011 way back at the beginning of December as a prize for the Weekly Giveaway on Tactical Tag, so I feel bad for making him wait so long.  However, I am a fan of the finished product and thought what better way to get some more exposure for Universal Nerf than to post it here!

It's also been awhile since I've done a repaint.  I do lots of repaints for Laser Tag blasters, but not so much for Nerfing.  However, the shell-design of the Dart Tag blasters lend themselves well to repaints, so I went for it.  The end result?  A Whiteout-styled Dart Tag Sharp Shot!

Damon: Painted Mav

I didn't really have a whole lot to work with as far as material, but dang!  Who knew 2012 would be the year of the Mav?  It's even got that Green Tac Light (which I don't see much of these days).  Still, I liked this one enough that I thought it had to go up.  Plus we've never seen stuff from Damon before and I'm really kinda stoked he shares his Longshot project he mentioned.  I'll let the picture and his quote do the rest.

"...my first attempt none-the-less, hope you enjoy. I know my second one is going to be a Nerf Longshot (with a light strike assault striker for the insides...)" 

JohnsonArms: Wooden Maverick

Although he didn't explicitly send us a submission, I thought it was cool enough to share... not to mention take this time to plug JohnsonArms in general.  Yes, yes, I know it's another Maverick... but this paintjob is fantastic!  He's replicated a "Wooden" look to this old favorite.  It was posted on Urban Tagger's wall as a "progress photo" but it looks pretty close to being completed if you ask me!

My 7 year old son gave me the inspiration to expand my art to NERF guns in September of 2010. The custom nerf guns and realistic props are a labor of love to be sure, but they just come out so cool that the time I spend just doesn't matter. IronJaw: Recon Recolor

Continuing the stream o'aesthetic mods, here's a nicely painted Recon by IronJaw. Thisn' is his first painted an' sold blaster. Its got a really nice muted color scheme, and really, is quite artfully done. The overall feel of the blaster is clean... but at the same time, rugged, which really appeals to my (not at all) inner woodsman.

He says:

"I went for a lighter color combination than Johnson Arms, but his "Halo" theme was a major draw to me. Sadly the colors turned out a LOT lighter than I had anticipated, but it turned out all right in the end."

  Personally, I think it turned out more than all right. 

Neo Creations: Steampunk'd Mav

Our first Steampunk submission is a Maverick, easily one of the most popular blasters to undergo this kind of treatment. It's aesthetics really lend itself well to it anyways. Neo Creations of DeviantArt has done a nice job with his! (note the barrel mod too!)  He has been doing steam punk paint jobs for a little over a year now and has over 40 completed blasters under his belt.

"I have removed the AR and done a revolver mod to extend it farther for easier reloading. I try to mod most of the guns I paint. My goal is to establish Neo Creations; my own little business for customizing nerf guns and other things. This includes steam punk paint jobs, but I also want to get into game type and movie replica and representation paint jobs. I have done one other maverick so far in a Mass Effect style, and loved the turn out."

Lookin good to me, Neo!  This Mav is just the tip of the iceberg for his creations though, so head on over to his DeviantArt channel and check them out for yourself!  

Portal: Golden Maverick

We're closing out 2011 with some shiny blasters, thanks to our recent submissions.  Spread the word and have your blasters featured here on the blog!  It's what we're here for!

Though I'm personally not a fan of "Dowse the blaster in one color" paint jobs, this Maverick that was given to Portal has that "Trophy" look to it thanks to the Golden paint job.  All it needs is a pedestal and you could give it up as an award of some sort!  It's not a perfect repaint, but it's still nice.  Portal had this to say about it>

"This is a golden spray painted maverick that a friend gave to me. You have no idea how cool it looks in person. It still has stock internals although I plan to change that. As it was spray painted the paint job wasn't done correctly. It serves its purpose but it needs to be refurbished. No areas were missed accept the barrel here. It's pretty cool. When and if I refurbish it it might have a little easter egg here or there. If I do that a little hint is that I got the new Zelda game game. Gold and Zelda equals awesome."

DarthRambo: Glitter Gun!

I can't say I've seen anything like this before, but Darthy has submitted a blaster that I think is quite festive!  Especially since it was made for someone else!

I made it for my sister for christmas.  This gun can shoot one dart by loading it into the front of the barrel.  You might be asking what that thing is coming off the barrel.  Well this gun shoots glitter and/or sprinkles depending on what the situation calls for.  The clear bottle unscrews and can be loaded with the particulate matter of your choosing.  
It works using the Bernoulli principal, deals with air flow mechanics and might actually be useful to nerfers in some way because shooting glitter is not.  Faster moving air actually drops in pressure when it is flowing freely.  This creates a vacuum in the barrel.  Hole in the top of the clear canister allows air to flow in as it is pulled by the vacuum.  The air forces the glitter up the tubing inside the bottle and up into the barrel where the air stream shoots it out. 

The dart gets ranges of about 25ft, The glitter gets about 6-8ft

So yeah this is pretty much just for lols

I'll say I'm a fan, especially considering the amount of know-how he has to build something that is, inevitably, silly!

Also, just in case you have a strange aversion to photos along with your fear of titles, it's a Maverick, painted redn'black and with all yer yummy internal mods done an' the barrels separated.

TestamentSeven7 says,

The AR's and dart pegs have been removed, barrel drop mod, 3 pennies behind the spring, barrel separation mod, and black/red paintjob thats...fairly mediocre but i like it.

The tactical rail on the priming handle is unpainted, because it worked.  The barrel piece is also unpainted, for obvious reasons."

I like this blaster. The color scheme is a nice choice, and I really like the rings of red around each of the barrels. Nice job, Testament!

Rolley: Custom Gear Up! Recon

While this wasn't officially entered, I thought I'd share something neat that I've found as well as a plug for a great blogger, Rolley.  He heads up Street Tag Warfare and has done something similar to my Yellow Longstrike barrel repaint to match his rare Gear Up! Series Recon CS-6.  In fact, I got the initial idea to do that repaint because of his Longstrike Barrel.  Not only is it nice rare proof of this blaster's existence, but it's a neat-yet-simple repaint of one piece that changes the whole look of the blaster.

I pulled these pictures from his Strikefire Review as well as his Gear Up! Recon review.  He's a great photographer and certainly has a knack for aesthetics, which I can appreciate.  That Longstrike Barrel is simple to repaint if you just remove the blue panels and paint them on their own.  These photos are just proof of how much potential it has to make any stock blaster unique.

Nerfenstein: Rayven CS-18

As part of Urban Tagger's Christmas Giveaway contest, the first prize has got to be one of the most impressive prizes I've seen given away in a long time. A repainted, unreleased Nerf Blaster that's had EVERYONE talking since news of it spread this past fall.  The repaint is by Nerfenstein, who has already done some impressive works before for Nerf Blasters.

 UT previously just had a teaser picture of the repaint prize, but now their Facebook page has revealed the full paintjob on it.  Complete with a Urban Taggers logo on the left side!  Impressive enough for me to share on Universal Nerf! This blaster was won by Tristan Cavanagh.

Ironjaw: E-11 "Black Raider"

Here's another mod by Ironjaw, this time, an aesthetic mod! It's a very nicely done Raider, done in a weathered black, a scope attacked and foregrip removed... Just in case you've suddenly lost your eyesight due to very-nicely-painted-Nerf-blaster syndrome. It's been known to happen.*

Ironjaw says, "I don't do many large Nerf gun mods, but I have done my fare share of painting. I try to go for clean and simpler paint jobs, but I find the weathering an important part of showing the lines and curves of the guns.

I was really impressed with several painted raiders I had seen online, they reminded me a lot of an E-11. I decided I wanted one that was as close to an E-11 as I could get without any major modification."

Overall, this is a very well done paint job. Nice'n clean, and a good job on the weathering. The Raider really is a good choice for an E-11.

Bazookafied: Blue Spectre

Earlier on Tactical Tag, I had been brainstorming on what the best route to take with my Spectre Rifle look, which uses a Raider-style stock and a Longstrike barrel.  The solution that I came up with then was a Yellow-painted Longstrike barrel to match the yellow Spectre and Raider Stock (the yellow one that came with the Value Pack Barricade).  I liked the look of it, but I decided to try out another option, which was to use the Blue Raider Stock and Longstrike Barrel with a blue-painted Spectre.

After sanding off the warning labels, priming it, setting the silver details and using masking tape to cover up said details and the trigger handle, the Spectre is blue now.  However, now I know why my original plan with the Yellow setup was the better choice.  The first is that the priming handle tears into the blue paint job a little, which is a bit of a downer considering how nice the paint job turned out.  The second issue is that I couldn't really find a shade of blue that matched the plastic of the stock and barrel, so it looks a little bit off.  As a standalone blaster, it looks great, but I'm a little disappointed overall that the blue I settled on didn't match better.

To top it off, I can't find my good camera for some reason, so I had to settle with my iPod camera to take these shots.  If I can find my camera and my blue Longstrike Barrel, I may take a few more pictures.
